Opening Sequences

'Abandoned Hope' Shot List by Thomas Wallbank and Shahina Begum

  • Shot 1- A medium shot of a abandoned warehouse, for about 20 seconds at dusk to add atmosphere and to show where the opening sequence will take place, but not reveal the story.

  • Shot 2- Extreme close-up of a list of names. Half of them crossed out with thick black marker pen, to add atmosphere. The killer will be behind a desk, all that the audience can see are his hands to create an enigma.

  • Shot 3- Extreme close-up of the “man’s” hands cutting and gluing pictures of people; to make the audience confused and play with their minds. Will have shadows due to low key lighting.

  • Shot 4- A whip-pan round to a close up of a victim (the next persons name on the list) feet and legs tied up with rope.

  • Shot 5- Close-up of the victim’s bloodshot eye with tears. This creates emotion within the audience.

  • Shot 6- A long shot of the victim to reveal his horrified non-verbal communication.

  • Shot 7- A tracking/panning shot of the shadow of the obsessive man walking towards the victim in the chair.

  • Shot 8- A loud screeching noise to the credits (Abandoned Hope.)

'Abandoned Hope' Treatment by Thomas Wallbank and Shahina Wallbank

'Abandoned Hope' Directed by Shahina Begum,  Camerawork by Thomas Wallbank and Shahina Begum and Edited by Thomas Wallbank.

This production is a Psychological thriller which is aimed at young adults from 18+. The film will be set in an abandoned warehouse. It will start of with a medium shot of a isolated warehouse for about 20 seconds. This will then follow into a range of extreme close-ups of the 'killer' cutting out pictures of a person and crossing out names of his victims; however, we don't see the victims face, or body, you will only ever see the persons hands. This creates a sense of enigma within the  audience. These shots will carry on for about a 30 seconds and will be taken from varied angles with different effects to create a sense of fear. this will lead to a whip-pan, which will reveal a tilting movement unveiling a boy tied to a chair, not knowing what will happen, keeping the audience in suspense. the next shot is of the shadow of the killer moving towards his victim. To end the production there will be a loud screeching noise to introduce the credits.
